Great. I've had my Nano just barely 24 hours, and it's completely fried.

On the phone with Apple now, and they are saying it has to come back for service.

Bummer.

:(

Me too.

The guy I talked to said I was the first nano he'd had to send a dispatch out for.

On the bright side, they are saying I'll have a working iPod back in seven days. I think that's a tad optimistic, with 4G Black Nanos being sold out everywhere.

Having worked in a store that sells lots of iPods for almost a year now, and seen lots returned, the shuffles are by far the most reliable, due to lack of hard drive. My guess is this will be the major advantage in the nanos specification, flash equals better reliability.

Hope you are back up and running quickly... tough break

Thanks MacDawg. I hope they actually can get it/a replacement back to me by Friday as I have a trip lined up for that weekend. My Nano and my new earbuds were going to be my companion.

Did they talk you through a hard reset?

Yeah, we tried everything.

I should mention, it was doing some really weird stuff. First, showing up only as a mountable drive, then later, after a few resets/restores, it actually showed up on my desktop as a Silver iPod mini.

The box to send it back is supposed to get to me tomorrow.

That sucks... no Apple store nearby (or on the way for your trip) that you can try to get a faster exchange from?

Well, actaully now that you mention it, I'm going to Dallas. There is an Apple store in Highland Park.

Do you think Apple would let me just take it back there and get a new one?

That's assuming they have a 4G Black Nano in stock.
