Does anybody particularly recommend a NAS enclosure?
I have three computers in my house: 2 Macs and 1 PC. Will file sharing still be able to take place on a cross-OS level? In practice does file sharing on a NAS system work similarly to the 'Shared Folder' in OS X?
I know about the data back-up facility, and it was while researching this a few hours ago that I first came across the 'NAS' system. Security is a headache for me, as I am moving to the three tier system of Time Machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, and online data back-up to protect my files from fire or bankruptcy. I probably do not need TM as I don't undertake important work on my home compters daily.
What other benefits are there to an NAS system?
In my house we do share computers quite leisurely, eg my mother will use my laptop if she doesn't feel like sitting upright at the PC, and it would be nice to have communally accessible folders. Could we resolve this without a server?
Thanks in advance for all your thoughts; I have researched this in places, but it's always more fun to get some interaction on the go.
