Looking to switch to a Synology NAS for TM backups of our 2 household Macs (Mini and MBP, each with 2TB storage). Plan is to set it up as RAID-1 for redundancy. Which is the better setup:

Synology DS220+ (2-bay); 2 x 8TB HDD
- drive 1: TM for both Macs
- drive 2: mirrors drive 1 through RAID

Synology DS420+ (4-bay); 4 x 4TB HDD
- drive 1: TM for MBP
- drive 2: mirrors drive 1 through RAID
- drive 3: TM for Mini
- drive 4: mirrors drive 3 through RAID

If I go with the latter, can it be set up as two RAID-1s as indicated, so that it "looks" like a pair of 4TB drives?

Also, does it matter if I go with Seagate Ironwolf (Pro or not) vice WD Red (Plus or not)?
