Considering using NAS for video storage. QNAP seemed a good brand. Anyone got any insight into this brand or better alternatives? cheers
 
This might be overkill for you, but I built a server running Windows Home Server and it works really well. If you have Windows PCs it will automatically back them up each night, and with a little tinkering it will serve as a Time Machine repository as well. It also streams video and music to my PS3/HDTV and runs PlayOn so we can watch Hulu, YouTube, Southpark, etc. on the TV.
 
D-Link DNS323. Completely satisfactory.

I think there's probably a decent interest level here, but unlike other devices, not many people have owned and used a big sample, so it's hard for an individual to compare.

There was an NAS thread not too long ago, though, that included links to testing sites.
