Hello guys,
Sorry if these has already been asked. I know that there's a lot of talk about NAS, but I haven't really found anything specific to my case.
I have about 3 TB in 2.5" drives (all 500gb) from old laptops, and I'd like suggestions for the cheapest way of turning these into some sort of storage device that can play with my Windows PC and my MacBook Pro. I'm looking to back up my MacBook, if possible using Time Machine, and my Windows computer as well. Some sort of Raid configuration with half the usable space but backups should be plenty.
My router, the Nighthawk X4 R7500v2, has 2 USB 3 ports and 1 eSATA port (just in case that can be used for anything cool). I have an external hard drive connected right now, and while it is accessible from every computer, it is not very reliable and Time Machine isn't officially supported.
Suggestions? Thank you in advance
