NAS: What's similar to WD My Cloud EX2 8TB?

I've been looking for a NAS and I was recommended the WD My Cloud EX2 8TB. I did some research and it seems to get decent (though not great) reviews. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger soon.

But I'm just wondering, what else is similar to the WD EX2 in price and specs?

Maybe a 2-bay Synology like the ds214? You'd have to add your own drives, so it may not be cheaper, but it's almost certainly better.
