Hey there. I currently own an Apple Wacth S7 SS 45mm, having before that the S6 40mm in Natural Ti. I have a dilemma - do I sell the S6 (at a silly price...we all know what happens to AW prices, especially on SS and the Edition ones...) or is it better to keep it.

What do you recon, now that the Ti is no more, will it have any future value? Not only in terms of pure $$, but also as a piece of AW "history" if you wish...

Any thoughts are welcome :)

I could be wrong, but there's no evidence that AWs retain significant resale value, much less collector value. And collector value would probably require the watch to be completely new, never used or worn. Tech hardware just doesn't hold a lot of value, sadly.

If you don’t want it, sell it. It’s worth less every day as it gets older.

Unlike other apple devices, the watches do not maintain value. Now after taking a huge depreciation hit, they maintain a level, but I don't see them ever increasing in value. Thats the primary downside of a smart watch.

The value will be in what you can get for it now in either a trade or outright sale. We have series 5 watches, my wife and myself, which we are trading in for a new 8 for my wife and an Ultra for me. I did consider keeping mine since you can now use 2 watches with one phone but realized that I was unlikely to ever do so and having to keep up with updates on both would eventually become tedious. If I had an AW older than the 5 with little to no value I’d send it in to be recycled if that were possible.

I do have an original iPhone which I keep for nostalgia primarily. I did use it, long after I moved on to later versions, as essentially an iPod touch for music playback but now just keep it stored away. But who knows maybe it will have some significant value in the future. For now I just like occasionally pulling it out to compare with my current phones.

I sold both my S6 and S7 for a little over 50% of its purchase price after 1 year. I'd expect that to stay true.

You own a S7 so you what use do you have for the S6? If the answer is none then "silly price" is a higher value than "sitting in the drawer rotting away." However, if you can wrap your mind around the pocket change you'll get selling it & you have an AW-less family member, hand it down. It's nice way to introduce them to AW.

Also to answer your question, no the S6 will have zero collector value. Million of them out there and zero nostalgia for it. The only way it could possibly become a collectors item is if it was unused, unactivated in original package. But the problem with these devices is that they are self destructing. So even if nostalgia were to take place in 20 years there would be no way for anyone to enjoy it. The battery would be dead, and there would be no way to activate it even if you put in a new battery in.

Thank you all for the input, that’s also what I thought. Handing it down to a family member is great idea actually :)
