I ended up taking a three hour road trip yesterday and ended up using navigation for about five hours in total throughout the day. For left turns, I could somewhat make out the pairs of haptic taps, but for right turns, I don't believe it was making anywhere near twelve taps. It almost feels like I was getting six regular taps for right and three pairs of two taps for left, which was difficult to distinguish while driving, especially when the watch screen was off. Were there any changes to the navigation haptics after the manual came out?
