NAVIGON has updated its suite of navigation apps to 1.8.0 (USA link).

While I find the UI to be still a mess, it does have some niceties:
  • Updated map data
  • Traffic check: shows the traffic summary (requires traffic live in-app) prior to departure
  • Reality Scan: gimmicky augmented reality for nearby points of interest (similar to Yelp monocle)
  • Radar Info US: alerts from 4,000 speed and red-light camera locations in the US ($4.99 in-app)

I would've preferred augmented reality driving view instead (map and route info overlaid onto augmented image) but oh well. At least it's a free feature.

The app is currently on sale ($15 off the USA version, for instance), as well as traffic in-app purchase ($14.99 instead of $19.99).

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Seems to fix some issues with the previous release too. Hopefully there are not new issues to take the place of those.
