Hello- In the very near future I will be upgrading from a 2007 iMac to a 27" 5k. I currently back my computer up to a Synology 213+ dual drive via Time machine, and also a separate external drive just for my photos via CCC. I'm a bit nervous about the upgrade, as I am not sure how to get all of my data properly copied from the RAId drive to then new iMac. If its something I should do at an apple store, fine. If its something can correctly do in place that would be fine too although I haven't done this before. Any help or suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Just plug it in and migrate your information back to the new imac, I looked that up and it is usb 3 so it'll be a lot quicker on the new one.

No, do a fresh install of your apps and move everything over manually. Whatever crap, clutter, etc., that you have on your current machine will follow you over and you won't get the speed and oomph! that you were expecting from your new Mac.
