I need something like Neat Desk for mac that can scan in, say, a whole magazine if I cut the edges off, but i think it is ridiculous that these solutions cost about $400.

What else can I get that isn't so expensive?

Don't forget to take a look at all the included software and features. Double Sided scanning, page speed , etc.

You can get the mobile versions with are much cheaper.

The industrial strength...well...SOHO models (like the $400 scansnaps) are designed for large volume scanning and come with software to accomplish the ocr and such. I mean, they're worth the price. My epson AIO single sided ADF would take hours to accomplish the same thing I can do on my scansnap in about 5-10 minutes.

Happy user

I got it for $410-$50 rebate (at that time) plus free readiris OCR software.
It has been a good investment, if only for scanning my textbooks.

It looks interesting, is it able to scan faded text? I notice alot of text on receipts fades fairly quickly.
