Hi,

My wife spilled water all over her 13" C2D this morning. He's dead, Jim.

Rather than pay Apple $750 to refurb the old machine, I am looking to get her a cost effective machine fast (she's driving me crazy w/o a computer). She wants a matte screen and not 17", so that leaves the 15"

Would you guys recommend either of these:

2010 model. 2 more years of Applecare left.

Or this:

Refurb quad core, current gen.

She does photo work (basic, no photoshop) and web surfing. Assuming no more water is spilled on expensive things, this machine will need to last at least 5+ years.

I'm leaning towards the eBay one because it already has Applecare.

Thanks.

Depending on when she needs it by, any of the hi-res refurbs on apple.com will meet her needs it sounds like.
Take note that the 2010 2.8 Ghz core i7 with antiglare is the same price as the late 2011 with antiglare and the 2.66Ghz core i7 with antiglare. They're all about $1659, w/o applecare.

I got the one on eBay (2010). Probably overpaid a bit, but it's done.
