Need a 2.1 or 2.0 speaker set

I'm looking for a new set of speakers for my mac. I spend a lot of time in front of my computer listening to music or watching TV shows.

I've got a cheap logitech set right now and have been considering spending a bit of money on a higher quality replacement.

I was going to buy the Harman Kardan Soundsticks but then have seen the M-Audio AV40's recommended (2.0 set).

Since the speakers will be on my desk, will the AV40's extra bass cause my desk to rattle or vibrate more than a 2.1 set?

ANy other recommendations? My budgets around £100.
