I love iTunes and I usually have music playing in the background when I'm working on my MBP... Only problem is it takes up alot of resources when I have different Apps open and I hate having to close iTunes first among them, which means no music...

What is a free, lightweight music player to download? Any recommendations?

What are the specs on your computer?
How much memory do you have?
What OS are your running? Tiger? Leopard? Snow Leopard?

I listed the specs below. I usually have Firefox, Mail, MSWord, iTunes and sometimes Fusion all fired up when I'm working...

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
OS: Snow Leopard

Fusion is what is killing you with only 2 GB of RAM

The best advice is to upgrade to 4 GB
It is the cheapest and simplest way to improve your performance in OSX and in Fusion

Sorry, I know that isn't really what you asked

It gets slow when I am running alot of applications even without Fusion. I have been planning to get a memory upgrade sometime in the future though. I think having a lightweight music player would be ok for now :)

what drives me nuts is everytime i try to listen to downloaded music clips it plays in iTunes but also imports it. So after listening I have to delete it to keep it from importing to my ipod.
