Hi all

I was putting a new speaker in my 2012 Mac mini when i really goofed. One of the steps you disconnect the wire for the IR sensor from the logic board. I forgot to be gentle broke the plastic connector off the logic board. Is there anyone here maybe I can ship the board to that can re solder the IR bracket down? Or should I just replace the logic board with a 2012 or 2014.

Thank you

Gary

Hi.
The Mac mini works perfectly without this cable. You will lose the IR functionality and the front status LED.

I understand the desire to repair a broken computer, but used 2012 Mini's have gotten so cheap, is it worth the effort? MacSales/OWC has base i5 2012 Minis for $79 (someone posted they got one for $59). They also have quad-core 2.6ghz 2012 Mini's for as low as $159. I'm sure you could find them for even less from private sellers.

If it works (and it does without the LED light and IR function) I wouldn't bother. Simply not worth it.

Or do as the other suggests, buy another Mac mini 2012, if it bothers you...
