Not sure if there OSX can do this natively or if I need a program to do this?

I need to find out as much information about a few .mp3 files as I can.

I'm fairly new to Mac's and I believe on a PC you could just right click which I did on my MBP but it just gave me the number of audio channels and total bit rate.

Ok, but I'd rather not have to import them in to iTunes first.

No need to import them in iTunes, especially if you unchecked the following.

But you could also use VideoSpec (I prefer that, though it hasn't been updated since 11/2009), MediaInfo Mac (10/2010) or MediaInfo (10/2010, there is a Mac OS X version to download, VideoSpec and MediaInfo Mac are using the same library as MediaInfo) to analyse the audio.

Select the file you want to check in the Finder, hit command + I and you'll get info about the audio file.
