Hello. I would like to propose that we add a "Social Media" forum.

Clearly MacRumors covers a whole bunch of topics that go way beyond just Macs (e.g. Photography, Video, PRSI, etc.)

And more so, a lot of people use Apple products to do things on social media.

Yes, you can ask such questions in the catch-all "Community Discussion", but I think social media questions muddy up that forum, plus that seems to be a place where people like to savage anything brought up - sometimes worse than in PRSI?!

For people trying to start a business, like me, I have so many questions about Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and even Facebook that it seems like it would be easy to justify the existence of a new "Social Media" forum where people can discuss both technical issues, and also learning how to use these tools for good!

Just my 2-cents...

Many of those companies offer their own support forums. I would argue those are far better resources.

Politely, no thanks.

There are wonderful forums here for photography, art, design, audio etc. that have little to do with social media or businesses.

I agree with @Mr_Brightside_@ those social media sources have how to forums/sources for any sized business.

Also, searching for “small business social media plan” will bring up a variety of topics, including how to start using social media. That would be my suggestion if starting a small business.

I don't believe there is sufficient demand to justify a separate forum dedicated to social media. I'd say that the vast majority of members here are not looking to start a business and/or need social media support. Those that do, can interact directly with facebook, twitter, etc for support as mentioned by @Mr_Brightside_@

But they don't have the MacRumors community!

(Anything on MacRumors can be found somewhere on the Internet.)

I come here for the PEOPLE and the WISDOM, which is invaluable to me.

Certainly there are people here who use social media and know more than I do.

And I'm sure there are some entrepreneurs out there as well that could help tie in my Apple products to social media and perhaps even business...

That's my stance.

I would recommend being proactive for your business proposal, being reactive (waiting for others to help you) will not benefit you. You'll get faster more accurate technical support at the social media sites that you need help with.

I don't see this is a need for the community. I get that its a need for you, but by and large not the community. I'd also say it appears to be a poor fit to have an apple-related fan site try to branch out to provide technical support for all sorts of social media sites.
