Frustrating.
I've been playing 'lets ping-pong my iTunes Library between two NASs using the Consolidate Library feature' and I've been left with a MASS of dupes. Every single subscribed podcast for example has two dupes of each track. Now I can probably get hold of an automated template-based delete tool, but in iTunes it won't be as simple as that.
For example, say there is a "Sesshi Podcast" folder and the podcasts are named Episode 1.mp3, Episode 2.mp3, etc.
If iTunes creates a dupe, there will be Episode 1 1.mp3 and Episode 2 1.mp3.
I need something intelligent (or configurable) enough to be able to hunt for filenames ending in " 1" and delete Episode 1 1.mp3 - but without deleting Episode 1.mp3.
Don't mind paying for full versions of shareware, etc as long as the cost is reasonable and the app works in the above manner. My library is screwed and I need to fix it ASAP without deleting any original files. Since it's on a NAS a wastebasket is not available and since the library is so large I'd never know until it's too late if something got deleted that shouldn't have been - so reliability of the tool is key.
Suggestions gratefully received, thanks.
