Hi everyone,

I have an old external hard drive that stopped working a while back. I think the drive itself is fine; it's just that the power source to the enclosure stopped working (the light on the box stopped turning on). I have removed the HDD from the old enclosure and would like to buy a new USB enclosure so I can get my data off the drive. Can someone explain to me, or point me in the direction of a website that could explain, how to figure out what kind of enclosure to buy? The drive is a Western Digital Enhanced IDE Drive, 160 GB.

Sorry if there is an obvious answer to this question; I've just never mucked around with HDDs before.

Thanks!

Any USB enclosure for a 3.5" drive with an IDE interface should be fine.

PSU failures are not uncommon, I've had three fail over the years. Currently using an IcyBox which has outlasted the previous types.

Great, thanks!
