need a video converter

i ust got a mac and am looking for a video converter to converter my avi movies to mp4 for my iphone, do you guys know any goods ones that are free? thanks.

MPEG Streamclip

I use MPEG Streamclip.

I got in originally as the MPEG my SONY camera produces are not supported by quicktime and hence don't work properly in iMovie/ iDVD. (ie the Mpeg2-muxed), and this program can convert time.

It will export AVI to MPEG, quicktime, DV (inc DIVX) etc.

It is well used.
