Recent convert, I purchased a MacBook Air when they first came out. I love it for travel, but need a powerhouse for music production at home (ProTools, etc.)

I have to go out of town for business for two months and was thinking of buying a MacPro to use there and then shipping it home.

1) Would it survive UPS in the original box?
2) Should I just buy the standard configuration from the local Apple Store then upgrade RAM & HD myself?
3) Any downside to doing this?

Thanks, in advance.

1. If you keep all the original styrofoam and such, I don't see how that would be a problem.

2. Yes. You'll save a fortune.

3. Yes, it sounds very inconvenient. Why not wait until you get back from your business trip, or is that not an option?

Well, I'm thinking my MBAir isn't really powerful enough for what I'll be doing but I won't really know til I get in the thick of it.

Thanks.
