I'm planning to upgrade my Macbook Pro 15'' (2011)... been using a Mac Pro (not the trash can) at my work office.. would be great to continue my work at home..

So far my Macbook Pro, barely able to survive on After Effects.
Final Cut Pro X isn't compatible for this machine, the lagginess is overwhelming. So I make a decision to edit on FCP7.

Been thinking to buy an iMac rather of buying a new Macbook Pro.. since I can still use it for portability or less power hungry applications. I don't want to have two Macbook Pros.. haha

Any Pros can tell me about the current (or upcoming) mid to high end iMac of its performance for applications such as Adobe & C4D?
Or tell me about your gears/upgrade equipments/workstations?

*EDIT:
Also how bad does it affects if I'm working on editing, all my footages are from SSD connected to USB-C? Smooth or Jerkiness?
