Need advice, how do I change the default email application

Hi

When I want to contact anyone from their "contact Us" link on their web page my computer opens "Mail" automatically.
I use gmail and I would like it to be my default email application. How do i change the default email from "mail" to gmail?

I use snow leopard.

Google notifier

I would use the Gmail notifier for the Mac and change the default mail application in the Mail application. I set my wife's 13" Macbook up with it and even though it's in Beta, she has had no issues.

1. Download the Google Notifier :
http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_mac.html

2. Open the Mail application.

3. Click the following menus and or tabs in order :
Mail > Preferences > General > default email reader > Google notifier

Strange, works fine for me. Anyway, I googled "default mail application os x gmail." It's one of the first results.

Odd... now it is working for me too.

Sorry, maybe it was a temporary glitch
