After long wait for skylake based MBP and disappointment thereafter, I am looking to buy Mid 2015 15''. I am debating between iGPU and dGPU, processor clock speed and storage. I would appreciate some insight and help.
I am a full stack developer and I use my laptop minimum 10 hours a day. Most of my development is in Java/JVM, Javascript etc so Intellij with multiple projects open, lots of chrome tabs, multiple applications, DBs, MQ, terminal windows and possibly virtual machines via vagrant/docker (not exactly a vm) etc. I am looking to cut down compile/build and load/deployment times and in general hoping for a snappier experience.
Having said that I am considering 2.5/2.8Ghz, 512/1Tb without AMD configuration. After some search in last few days, it seems this configuration is hard to find. This leads to my next set of questions
1) Is there a big difference between 2.2Ghz and 2.5/2.8Ghz. Will I benefit from higher cpu clock speed?
2) Will I benefit from more storage? Maybe 1Tb has higher read/write?
3) I would highly prefer not to get one with dGPU (AMD) because I wanna pro-long the battery life and maybe use eGPU in the future for casual gaming. What do you think?
