Need advice on messenger for mac please

I am currently running messenger for mac 7.0.2, i have had no problems but recently when i send a message i cannot simply start typing again so send another message the same window in have to physically move my mouse and click in the chat box again, i know this is a small problem but its really irritating, anyone else have the same problem or can offer me advice?
