I have a 2.16 core duo macbook pro. recently the drive continually attempts to eject discs that are not in the drive. The drive works great with cds or dvds. To be honest, its really just an annoyance, and i will admit i have not cracked open the laptop to attempt to clean it.
My real question is, worse come to worse, can i replace the drive with a non-mac drive? i dont want to pay the 200 dollars for one from ifixit.com. If anyone knows if i can do that, could you direct me to the site in which i can purchase the drive?
