Here is my situation. It might be unique or it might not. It most certainly is not the usual issues.

I live and work in Ukraine. I live sometimes in the USA for brief periods of time.

Currently I am using an unlocked iPhone 4S that that was purchased through Apple Spain but its the same phone you would get in the USA or other places that are unlocked.

I would like to have and use an iPhone 5. It is my understanding that the AT&T iPhone 5 in the USA support LTE like the LTE on the iPad which is unique to the USA only.

It is my understanding that LTE supported on the Verizon and the Sprint phones are better suited for Europe LTE.

See: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

Ukraine does not have LTE, the best we can do here is 3G.

I've been told by Verizon that if I purchase an iPhone 5 at full price and off-contract that I can:

1. Suspend my Verizon Account anytime I choose since I am not on a contract.

2. Use the GSM/3G/LTE around Europe using non-USA/Verizon using the service provided on this side of the world.

Do you think:

1. That what I am talking about is possible?
2. Do you think that cutting a sim card is possible?
3. Do you think that the Verizon people are correct?

I'm under the impression that the unlocked iPhone 5 in the USA would likely be the AT&T version which would work in Ukraine as will the Verizon, however the Verizon phone having been setup for LTE overseas is a better value for me since:

1. I would likely see the phone over here for iPhone 5S.
2. I would likely use the LTE when traveling placed in the EU.
3. Since I am in the USA only a small part of the time having a suspended Verizon Account is not actually a bad deal whree I can turn it off an on as needed.

Any thoughts or insights are appreciated.

Thanks!
