Now that I have ordered the new 3Gs phone I am wondering what I can do with my 1st generation phone. I am thinking of passing down to my son. Does anyone know if we will be able to turn the 1st generation phone into an ipod touch?

Yes you can use it as an iPod touch.. I would see it on ebay get 150-200 dollars for it and buy him a real ipod touch ;)

Personally I'd sell it on craigslist or eBay to help offset the cost of your new phone

What steps need to be followed?

So it sounds like this can be done, but what steps need to be followed to make this work?
