I have been starting a new project where I am scanning in some old posters with a flatbed scanner. Obviously the scanner isn't big enough to scan in the entire size of the poster so I end up with many different images that I need to put together.
I have tried a number of apps that look like they're made for making panoramas of photographs. I haven't had much luck with many of them as they tend to default to putting all the picture side-by-side. After some searching I finally figured out how to do it somewhat in Photoshop Elements 10. I have been going to File>New>Photomerge Panorama>Interactive Layout. After picking from my list of about 10-12 scans I can layout the pictures in the correct order. PE10 does a pretty good job of snapping the edges where they're going to be merged together. The finish project is pretty good but still not what I'm looking for.
Does anyone have a workflow or killer app that I could use to better take a layout of 3x4 scans and have them automatically stitch them all together? There are a handful of app on the app store but without a "try before you buy" I don't want to spend any more money until I know something will work. I have also tried Doubletake without much success.
