I am helping my girlfriend put together a demo real and I have a bunch of .mpg files that were created in Premiere. The issue is I can't import them into iMovie. They don't seem to even play in Quicktime for some reason which is odd.

How can I convert them into the proper format??

If QuickTime won't read them then they're probably in MPEG-2 format, which isn't readable by QT without a (paid) decoder. A tool such as VisualHub may be what you need.

apparently .mp4 and .mpg won't import into iMovie either...
