Need application to separate tracks on an mp3 file?

I've got a 24 year old recording of my old band when we were in high school. It was on a cassette and it's now in digital form. I'd like to be able to give each song a track number. Is there a application in OSX that I can do that or do I need a 3rd party program?

I'd like something free and easy to use as I'll only use it probably once.

Do you have Garageband? If so you could load the track in there and do the split manually I think.
