Hi,

I am selling my imac desktop and was wondering if anyone can relay detailed instructions on the best way to erase my hard drive. Thanks.

Imac desktop
Intel/1.83GHz iMac 17
1GBof 66MHz and i have Leopard
installed on it as well

Well, I normally dd the hard drive, inputting /dev/zero onto it. However, I don't think the OS X installation discs allow you to use Terminal. If they do, then you can:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=<insert hard drive link here, usually /dev/sda>

EDIT: Sounds like FJ218700's idea is much easier for a Mac.

load the restore discs that came with the mac and follow the instructions. it should take an hour or two to reformat and do a clean install of the OS and apps.
