I dropped my iPad Air 2 and the screen it totally shattered. I have the following problem and would really appreciate ideas on how to address it:
My Mac can still see the iPad just fine but iTunes initially asks me to authorize the mac on the iPad (I'm not sure why it does this because I thought I had backed it up to this Mac in the past). I can't do that because the screen is completely busted. I tried tabbing various areas on the screen hoping I'll tab the right point approving the Mac but not sure I succeeded. In the end (and I don't know if this is in response to my hitting an "approve" or "disapprove" button on the screen) iTunes allowed me to backup the iPad but the backup I then create is only 17 GB large while I am using 48 GB of 64 GB on the iPad. I realize that some of the data on the iPad are stored in the cloud, but I don't know if everything was backed up or only non-personal information because I wasn't able to approve the Mac from the iPad. I hope this explanation makes sense!
Obviously what I'm trying to do is make sure I back up all the information on the iPad. The Apple store calls the damage "catastrophic" so I don't think it can be repaired. I do however have a Genius appointment in an hour to determine that with certainty.
Thanks in advance for your reading this and potentially chiming in.
