Looking for best conversion cable to hook my Mac Book Pro up to our new HDTV - thought someone said I should get a converter that converts Mac 800 firewire output to an HDMI cable hookup. Any ideas?

You were given bad advice. What you're asking for does not exist.

What you do need, and what does exist is a Mini-Display Port to HDMI cable. I'm sure Google can help ya.

What you ask for does not exist. Its mini display port to HDMI adpater.

What you're asking is akin to asking someone for a glove so you can have something to eat your food with.

To be fair, HDMI is fully capable of transferring data. I've seen it being used on some switches to uplink them. So technically speaking, there could be an application for a FW800->HDMI cable/converter. However, in this case it wouldn't help at all.

Don't be too harsh guys.

Connect HDMI output to Fireware 800 input?

My Canon camcorder HG20 as that kind of video output and also a component out and in my MacBook Pro there is a Fireware 800 input that can be captured by Final Cut or IMovie. I would like to know if there is a way to make such kind of connection or converter?
Thanks

I looked up your camcorder and it says it has an HDMI output on it

-HDMI Terminal Type C 480i / 480p / 1080i Format Supported

Can't you just get an HDMI cable? The cable that the OP asked for doesn't exist, you can't go from FW800 to HDMI.

It depends what kind of MacBook pro he has, if it was made mid 2010 or later the first one you linked will do video and audio.

I didn't see the OP say what model he had so just putting it put there.
