Can Apple please make their mobile phones lighter. This is its only downside. It’s freakin heavy compared to Samsung. I had a Samsung 5 years ago, S5 Active. It’s still with me. It still works after once I had thrown it across my living room during a disagreement with someone (regret it tho). But the phone didn’t break and worked as normal. I switched to iPhones mainly for its quality IOS and prestige (got to be honest). I like wearing loose pants and the iPhone X (the one I got now) is freakin heavy and it pulls my pants down a little. There are other lighter but strong materials in today’s world. Please Apple, do this as sales outside the US is still low for iPhones.

What materials would those be?

Light, strong, conducts heat well, affordable to mass produce. I'm sure materials researchers would like to know as well.

Have you ever used iPhone 11? The device weighs exactly 194 grams. And this device also has an aluminum body. The iPhone X, on the other hand, is only 174 grams despite its stainless steel body. I think the iPhone X is not that heavy if we look at the iPhone 11. :D

As for your question; Stainless steel is a heavy material. Unfortunately, iPhones with this stainless steel body will not be very light. Those who want a light iPhone have to choose aluminum-bodied models at the moment. It is said that the iPhone 14 will come with a titanium body. If a titanium body comes, we can see models as stylish as steel and as light as aluminum.

Given the titanium Apple Watch 7 is more than 15% heavier than aluminum, I don't see how that's possible.
When I say as light as aluminum, I mean the devices will become lighter. It's sure to be lighter than steel. Otherwise, of course, the titanium case will never be as light as aluminum.

Eventually, they may go for titanium instead of stainless, and that should reduce the weight of the pro iPhones while still maintaining the premium look that is irrelevant for anyone who uses a case like me.
yes titanium is lighter than stainless steel, but most of the phones weight is not coming from the metal band around the case. glass is quite heavy, batteries are quite heavy, and every year they utilize the internal space of iPhones better, increasing their weight while maintaining size.

I wouldn't count on iPhones getting lighter in general, but maybe certain models will be light. i.e. the upcoming 2022 SE.

Maybe a belt could help counteract the effects of a heavy phone pulling your pants down :p

My 12 Mini is perfect for its size. I reckon the regular sized phones have a decent heft to them also. I have held a few 12 Pros and they felt fine also. As far as I am concerned, I don’t think we need lighter iPhones.

It’s funny, I pulled out my iPhone 6 recently and it felt like the future. The thinnest phone they ever made and it is very light as well. In fact I was even slightly astonished once again that everything could fit in such a minuscule chassis and yet have full functionality.

It essentially felt as if it were the minimum thickness/weight that you would care to make a phone it even if they could be made smaller. I could nearly imagine flipping it around like a TV remote, and caring just as less if it went flying across the room. I think this is where we should go for the future of phones. Take all the advancements of current phones and get them back into tiny packages of a few years ago.

You mean like the iPhone SE 2020?

I currently have the 12 Pro. I like everything about the phone except that the battery life could be better. I vote for a slightly heavier phone with a larger battery.

You want battery life or lighter phones? You want premium materials or lower costing (lighter materials)? Heft = quality, IMO.

I never used to care about this, but the 13 Pro Max is far too heavy this time around. I almost couldn't believe they managed to make it heavier than the 12 PM. I have big hands and it's still tiring to hold for long periods of time or any period of time at certain angles.
I have tiny dwarf hands and it’s perfectly fine.

The battery is the majority of the weight. To make a significantly lighter iPhone, they'd need to reduce "run time." I don't think anyone wants a shorter lasting battery....

That's basically the SE. Wouldn't want that regression in battery life.

Isn't the weight mostly battery? If Apple made a lighter phone with shorter battery life no one would buy it.

The iPhone 13 is just 4 grams heavier than your old S5 Active (174g vs 170g). Don't tell me that's a lot for you. The iPhone 13 mini is lighter (141g) and has larger screen than your S5 Active.
