I need a good 20"-24" display to go nicely with the Mac Pro I am going to buy. I don't feel like shelling out over $500 for an ACD. I'm just using it for basic use, maybe media viewing and stuff like that. Is there anything within the $300-$500 range that can meet my needs?

The Dell 2408 was recently rated as the best monitor by CNet, however its about $80 over your price range. That means you could drop a size or get the 2407, which is still a good monitor.

Dell monitors look ugly

I'm also looking for a similar monitor (24") and i know Dell have the best specs, but i can't get over how ugly and fat they are. anyone know a decent monitor that actually looks ok (that isn't an ACD)?

shell out the cash for the 20 or 23 inch cinema display. You'll thank yourself later. Look at refurbs, craigslist, education discount.

stupid question, my gf and I live together. She has a 24" iMac and I have a Macbook. Would I be able to use the iMac as an external display?
