i have a 17" 2009 mbp and unfortunately having problems with the fans. they are keep working at highest speed. last friday i took my mbp to the soho apple store and they checked it and said motherboard needs to be replaced. it's going to cost like $320.
what i want to learn is, what is the possibility of having a new motherboard? i mean instead of having the same specs (my machine is 2.93 core2duo), is it possible to get a i5 or i7 motherboard? i think the aluminum case is same, so can i ask to get an i7 built in motherboard? of course with paying the extra.
because i was thinking, since apple cancelled 17", and i really don't want to spend 300 for a core2duo motherboard.
what do you think guys? is it possible?
