Need help about switching Carriers

Hi, I was not sure where to post this but I felt this was the best place. I am hoping to switch from Verizon to AT&T to get the new 3G iPhone. I am on a Verizon family plan and I was wondering, if I make the switch to AT&T by myself after cancelling my service with Verizon....will the other members in my family plan be affected by me switching? Thanks.
