need help activating my iphone 3gs

i have a problem my friend gave me his old AT&T iphone 3gs to use as an mp3 player how ever he reset the phone to factory default settings and its asking me to activate it sadly i dont have an AT&T sim card to activate it what do i do please help as i cant afford to buy a sim card when im not gonna be using the phone for talking just for music almost forgot my ios is 6.1.3
