Hi,

I'm trying to backup a dvd and one .VOB file won't copy over to the hard drive. The dvd i'm copying was a homemade production so there's no decoding or anything to do, just simply saving the VIDEO_TS folder usually does the trick. The discs is clean, no marks, but one file gets stuck at 684MB (right when it's almost done!). I've tried to use dvdbackup and mactheripper and both get stuck. What can I do?

Could it be a hardware problem?

Have you tried it in another DVD drive? Does it play OK in a standalone DVD player?

BTW I've found that DVD+/-Rs written on first generation burners don't seem to be as stable as CD-Rs. I've had various old projects turn unreadable after a few months, and I am sure the disc worked before. These were all burned on my HP DVD-100i on first generation DVD+RW discs, and a couple of video DVD-R's written on an early SuperDrive. So far no problems with anything I've burned on my Plextor. (knock on wood).
