need help Bluetooth not working (greyed icon) iphone 4

im trying to sync my iphone 4 with my ford edge winterbeater. syncs fine with 2 other phones. I try to search for my phone and it doesnt see it nor does my phone see the sync/handsfree. the icon is always grey which im assuming means its not connected? should i do a restore on my phone? any tips appreciated.

I would do a hard reset (hold the home and power button until you see the apple logo) before I did a restore.
