Need help buying iPhone 4S for friend overseas

I need to buy my friend in another country a iPhone 4S. Im confused about buying it. It looks like the only way to order iPhones on apples website is to log into your AT&T account to purchase or set up a new account for the phone which I don't want to do since he is using it in his country.

Anyone know how to buy it without using a ATT account? The only thing I have heard is to go to apple store and say ill set it up at home. Any help will be great!

Why have you bumped the thread after only 40 mins. You need to be more patient.

That said as far as I'm aware Apple has only announced contract prices so far in the US. They haven't announced if the phone is going to be available unlocked in the US and if so for how much.

Not sure if you still need this, but you can just order from Apple off contract.
