Ok, I need help please.......nightmare alert.

So, i switched from my M4mini thru a timemachine backup (taken bevore the switch), Sequoia 15.3, two Displays, to my M4Studiomax. Same two displays, same 15.3 sequoia.

This setup was working flawlessly on my M4mini. My main screen is a TV. The 2nd screen is set up as a extended display. (that´ß on the M4mini)

On my M4studio, again: same setup, same Sequoia 15.3, do i not even have an option to setup a 2nd display !
As soon as i connect my 2nd display to my M4studio, is it stealing the "main screen" feature, AND: i have no chance to move my mouse pointer to my -should be- first screen.

If i only connect my originally main Display, a TV, are things working, but i can´t chose it as a "main display" . No such setting available.
This is nolonger there !!! But it is there on my M4mini, same 15.3 sequoia.

What the hell is going on here ?
How can i make even just two displays work on my M4studio ?
Waht´s different with that M4studio vs. a M4mini ?
this all makes no sense to me

connections:
both displays run a HDMI cable.
On the macs end do i have a TB4 dock.
and i have two HDMI to TB4, respectivly USB-3 adpaters.
I tryed all combinations.

I am not able to run both displays at the ame time, regardless if mirrored (the best i can have) is chosen or not. I cannot move my mouse pointer to that -my main- display ( a TV).

i have no display port cable. (i just moved flat a few months ago. All i have is HDMI on the displays end.

Why is OS SEquoia here different ?
why can´t i chose one display as a main display ?
This setting is not there.
What can i do ?

depnds on how i dis- and re- connect my displays can it happen that i get to see a black screen on my -should be- main display.
with a prompt telling me i should open the display dialog and set the display to mode: mirror.
BUT: then, at this stage do i not have any access to that display with my mouse pointer.
While on the other display, do i jhave only the option to chose one display, that one.
In other words, whne i get to see that black screen with that message, can i not chose that display anywhere. i have then no access to it,....but i´m asked to set that setting.

this is so f.cked up, i can´t belive it.
where can i find here the key to chnage that situation ?

( i´d prefer to NOT update to sequoia 15.4 at this point. It´s a professional music PC)

Are you connecting both displays to you Mac (or to a hub)….?
It sounds like it could be a cable/adapter issue.

What spec monitor do you have?
The article below suggests to connect the higher res display first.

Both vraiants. I tryed allready yesterday everythng.

2 Displays directly to the Mac. one to a hub, or the other to a hub. different hubs.
1 connection HDMI, or 2 connections "HDMI + TB/USB comnverter".

I have one "HDMI - TB4" converter. And one "HDMI - USB-C".
I have one TB4 dock (no HDMI connection) + a USB-C hub passiv that has a HDMI connection.

I have no display port cable at my disposal right now.

i have in use:
- one 40" TV, 1920x1080 / 60Hz
- one PC Display 27" with an original resolution of 2560x1440. I run it at 1920x1080 / 60HZ

I start to think that the 2560x1440 OG resolution of my secondary Screen could be a culprit ?
Or: that my main screen is in fact a TV, rated as a TV on this mac-studio.
The Display system settings dialog on my M4Studio is different than on my M4mini. Both running 15.3 Sequoia !

But: why do i NEVER see any setting within my system settings dialog that lets me chose one as my "main screen" ?
I do not have such setting on my mac studio !

Nor do i ever get to see two display symbols.....you know, the graphical display representation on top.
With 2 displays connected, whatever i do, i get to see just one Display. Even if i setup one Display as "use as extended display".

i take screenshots. Thats my mac studio: check the 2nd, the small screenshot
( while taking these screenshots, it was allways just one display connected......

now on display two, the other disconnected:
( ahh wait, my resolution setting is wrong. I just switched to 1080. The situation remains same. ...ugly)
( whne i connect my main display, the 40" TV, while this secondary one is running, will it show me a black screen on that display, like DOS mode, saying if i want to mirror the display,....but i have NO access to that display/screen with my mouse pointer.....and it will turn my secondary screen 90° off)

wait, i just switched that setting now, to: use as extended display ( changes nothing ! a small oversight right now. i has this correct yesterday.....i´ve tryed everything yesterday)

AND:
on my "should be" 40" main screen did i had just NO access to that folder where i put my screenshots into.
This smells like my ......from the Mac as secondary minitor seen 450" TV......there seems a issue with "rights".

maybe it plays alos a role that this is a TV ?...it smells like.

Is the HDMI to USB-C adapter a decent type?
I have one display HDMI - HDMI, the other DP to USB-C (with an adapter) plugged into the very left port looking at the back.

i can´t tell. I tryed to take something decent. Those are fresh. just 1-2 weeks old.

i try with different ports on my mac. Not tryed that bevore.

I have also a 43" display around, 4K. That´s a real PC-display. I need to tinker-job something to set this one up.
I´ll check if this changes anything.

and i do order me this weekend some Display port cables and hubs.
I wanted to do that allready, but took -for whatever reasosn- some Usb-C cables.

But the wjjole issue that i can´t see a "make this display the main display" setting is strange.
Nor any representation of two display symbols at the same time in the system settings / Display dialog.
Same 15.3 OS as on my mac mini

That´ß a tough birth, oh my....haha

@MarkC426 , i thank you very very much for taking care here ! Much appreciated.
My nervs been down yesterday. I come back whne i know more, or when still nothing was working out.

i finally hqave alos the option to deinstall my mac -studio, and test install it in a different corner of the room with sayed "real" PC Display, plus another one -same type- as my 2nd display.
Whats totally not at my disposal right now, are display port cables.

ok, gonna throw some more money at amazon.......for cables, adapters, dual display hubs.

Thanks alots !

Have a look in [apple menu] about this Mac / more info / System report / Graphics/Displays to see if both monitors show.

i´ll do, ..later. Thanks alots

the standing right now:
i deinstalled my M4studio, and put my M4mini back in.

But: i installed my M4studio as a test setup in another corner.
Two displays: one regular 43" PC display (no TV) the 2nd display is the exactly same type as in my original setup, that 2nd display.
This IS there working now with two displays

What has changed ?
the main display !
nothing else is connected to the Macstudio.

The really strange thing is:
the system settings / display settings.....looks now different. It´s slightly different !
i mean, it´s the same mac, same OS still.

i see only one source of the problem:
my studio-mac has a problem with my TV as a display.

I can´t exchange the displays right now. But at least i have a working solution in sight.
And from there more backround vs. a further debug attempts with my 40" display (the TV, ...which i prefer for now)

So, the test setup helped me.

i have now two displays running on my M4 mac studio.
the 40" TV-display was a source of a problem, for whatever reasons.
it was replaced with my -newer- 43" LG-monitor.
I had that one not installed cause of it´s weight !....but wanted to. ( post moving flat)
Found a way to install it alone on the vesa arm ( my back makes problems....that was quite an undertaking, somehow)

any HDMI connection with that display was only running at 30Hz on my M4studio !!
But this display has also a Usb-C connection. That way, it works with 60Hz.
the secondary display runs on a HDMI cable to a small usb-C hub. That hub into a TB4 hub.

why a setup that was running just fine on a 10GPU M4-mini is NOT working on a 40GPU M4 mac-studio is beyond of what i can comprehend.

Well, i made my mind up, ill invest in cables and connectors and hubs, until all works.
for now, the problem is solved.

Thanks alots for the help !
