Hi,

I purchased an iMac 27” ( Mid 2011 ) off eBay a few days ago and included in the sale was an Apple trackpad and Magic Keyboard ( A1314 )

The trackpad paired perfectly but upon trying to pair the keyboard, when the screen asks me to enter the numerical pairing code, the number keys on the keyboard do not work.

I have a cheap run of the mill USB keyboard into it right now and everything works fine there, but obviously I’d like to use the wireless Magic Keyboard.

Interestingly, the keyboard is discovered as ”Roberts Keyboard” as opposed to the default ”Apple Magic Keyboard” or whatever it would normally say.

I have tried pairing it with a Windows 10 PC and my iPad and still the same result, the number keys just won’t type.

Have I inadvertently activated a keyboard shortcut on the Magic Keyboard and disabled number keys or something?

Can I hard reset the keyboard back to factory settings somehow?

Please advise, I’m at a complete loss 😞

Update: The 0 and “Enter” keys seem to work but no others, what does this mean?

It IS a software issue for sure.
I have the same exact problem. 1-9 number keys suddenly stopped working, but 0 still works. The same occurs when trying to pair it on my iPad.

Before unpairing the keyboard, punctuation & symbols on 1-9 num keys were actually working when digits were not, so it MUST be software related.
Now, the keyboard is unpaired, it still shows my name & I can't find a way to do a hard-reset of the keyboard while unpaired. There MUST be a way.

I tried resetting the -not magic anymore- keyboard by pressing the power button until the pairing number question appears.
But since 1-9 keys do not work, I can't pair anymore . I also tried the following :
- Disabling all other bluetooth devices around,
- Enabling then disabling mouse keys
- Pressing alt - option 5 times
- Rebooting, obviously ...

Anyone has the solution?

there is a file and folder in ~libraries/bluetooth/? that did the trick for me
i'm on my Dell XPS so i cant explore this now.
that OSX daily website is great for these tips and advice, as well as apple.com

good luck!

Hi, I too have the same problem. Did you find a solution?

Sorry for the too late comment.
I dont think it's a software issue. Remember that the Apple keyboards have the habit of failing when:
1- Water or any kind of liquid including alcohol sneaks into the bottom of the keys, or
2- The aluminum case is bent even a little bit

Did anyone solve this issue? I am having the exact same issue with all number keys EXCEPT zero. The ENTER key works as well.
