My wife and I both have rMB's. We've gotten to the point where we want to buy a 24" or 27" monitor to hook the laptops up to. We have limited space in our living room, and want something minimalist (that doesn't look like a computer desk) so that it integrates into the space well. We are planning on going with a 4K Monitor since my wife is primarily going to use the desk for photo editing.

We have roughly 34-36" in width to work with.

A few questions:
1. Any suggestions for a desk? We need a shelf, or somewhere to place the laptop when we dock it to hookup to the monitor. We were looking at something like this one: https://www.containerstore.com/s/sh...ite-linea-leaning-desk/12d?productId=10035808. Also was looking at this Ikea desk (but it's 5" shorter in width): http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30213076/
2. Should we go with 24" or 27"? In looking at the P2415Q and P2715Q, it seems that the 27" only takes up a little over more 1" additional in width
3. Should I wall mount the monitor to free up space?

The desk would also ideally have somewhere (a drawer) to place the keyboard and mouse when not in use, but that's not critical

Thanks in advance!

For simplicities sake, I would forgo the shelving unit and get a nice 24" display on a monitor arm and slide the MacBook to the back. you can clean up the cables nice and easily and keep everything put away without adding much excess furniture and clutter to your environment.

Also would depend on your budget and current style in the Living area. You could also get a shared table that is clean and add cable management underneath, put both displays on monitor arms and tuck the MacBooks underneath the displays.

Sounds like a nice potential option. Any pictures of what something like this would look like?

just some basic ideas, haven't found a lot specifically towards what I was suggesting.

I'd recommend looking into "minimal desk set-ups" there are tons and tons and have a whole sub-genre of desk set-ups with really cool ideas.

If monitor mounts are your thing or too pricy, I know IKEA has some blank wood panels and small 3" legs you could have a stand to put the display on and tuck away the Macbooks/keyboard mice underneath. as well.

perhaps getting a single table to share would help too with minimal space taken up and a cleaner look;
