Hey All
Need help choosing which iPad to buy (used to have one, but not had one for a while as I had a Surface Pro 2).
Need some suggestions and guidance as to what iPad and storage quantity I should buy!
I have two main uses for an iPad.
One is at home, for surfing the web while wondering round the house, using it as a Plex Media Centre remote control, and maybe to watch some tv on its side on my bedside table and occasionaly as an extra screen for my Mac Mini (I already have 2 24" screens so I wouldn't do this that often).
Second is that I travel to London for work, 2 or 3 days a week. Its an hours commute each way. Due to the bad signal during this journey, currently I use the 4od or iPlayer download function to download episodes onto my iPhone 6 before the journey but the screen is just a little small. Sometimes I take my work laptop as well and MyFi device (don't need a data connection in my iPad thanks to this) and watch Netflix but often the signal isn't good enough, so I watch recorded stuff on the laptop but its a pain to haul it round just to watch stuff on!
So what storage size; 32GB, 64GB or 128GB?
As mentioned I use Plex at home and it has a great feature called Sync which allows me to pick a few tv episodes or films, transcode them and send to a device for temporary local storage to watch offline very easily. I plan to do this with my iPad so I can watch stuff on the go with no signal. I would probably want to store 3 or 4 tv episodes (HD) and 1 or 2 movies (HD) at a time, especially if I am travelling 2 days on the trot. So 32GB, 64GB or 128GB?
What iPad; Air 2, Rmini or used Air?
If I was soley using the device at home I would pick the Air 2 for sure. Its just the travelling aspect that may make me change my mind. I always take a leather bag to London with me as I always have a notepad or 2 and often documents to take to meetings. I will have to take my work laptop sometimes regardless of the iPad if its needed for the meeting. So I guess if the Air 2 is light enough then I won't notice it adding much weight to the notepad/documents in my bag?
Thanks
Anton
