Hey there I'm a newbie to the iphone, obviously, and I can't connect to wi-fi from home. My network, apparently, is netgear and it requires a password. Can anyone help me?

You need to obtain your network password for your router.
The default password can sometimes be found on the bottom of the router or in the maual, this can be changed to a prefered choice.
Once you have the password simply search for the network on the iPhone in th wi-fi option and enter the password once asked.

the password it the wep key you used to connect your laptop/pc to your wireless network. have a look under the router sometimes they print it under there. remember to use the correct case

Also I think a hard reset on the router, forces you to start over and redo passwords.
