I have searched the apple support forums and tried the two solutions there with no success. Anyone else having this issue? My macbook simply wont copy/paste.

If you log out under the Apple in the Menu bar and log in holding down Shift key, can you copy/paste now?
If no, create a new User in System Preferences and test in a new User.
