I’m having trouble deciding which MBP to finally get.

I will use the MBP to edit home videos in Final Cut Pro 6. I currently use my mac mini and it handles ok, except for third party plug ins that require a separate video card.

Well the specs for each are as follows.

1st gen MBP 15” for $1799

2.6 GHz w/ 6md cache
250 GB HD
4 GB DDR2 SDRAM
GeForce 8600M GT w/ 512 MB of DDR3 SDRAM

New unibody 15” $1899

2.4 GHz / 3mb cache
250 GB HD
2 GB DDR3 SDRAM
GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT w/256 MB of DDR3

I like the faster processor and bigger cache on the 1st Gen, but I like that the unibody has DDR3 and 9600M GT graphics card. I like that the unibody has DDR3 ram, but the first gen has 4GB of ram and 512 mb video card.

What would you get to work with final cut pro and third party plugins?
