Okay, it's kind of vague i apologize, but all i remember is that the movie was based around a submarine. Heck i think submarine was in the movie name but i'm not sure. The submarine got stuck or lost power while it had people on board.

The movie is in color.
It aired on ABC like 8 years ago. I think the movie was made in the 97-00 timeframe but i'm not positive.

Thanks.

I don't think it was U571, but im not sure. I'll check again.

Yeah, i believe it was an American submarine.

I think the film was set for world war 2, but it was mostly modern.

OH something just clicked into my mind that i think it was based off a real story.

I LOVE submarine movies

U571 was OK

Sounds like U-571 to me

Alright, i guess it's that then. I'll have to check it out.

Sounds like something ABC would air, so..

I remember a lot of people being pissed when that film came out here...

However, pulled from the Wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-571_(film)#Historical_inaccuracies

Screenwriter David Ayer admitted that U-571 distorted history and stated that he would not do it again. Ayer told BBC Radio 4's The Film Programme that he "did not feel good" about suggesting Americans captured the Naval Enigma cipher rather than the British:

It was a distortion...a mercenary decision...to create this parallel history in order to drive the movie for an American audience. Both my grandparents were officers in World War II, and I would be personally offended if somebody distorted their achievements.

In addressing many errors in movies, as some have put it, a movie would be very long, if it contained every detail. Many are combined, people as well. And, as with some stories, if told accurately, could prove boring. If it were real, then would it not be a documentary?

the only one that comes to mind is a movie called das boot but it's been a long time since i've seen it. i used to own a copy, but never got it back when i lent it out.

good luck!

Alright i'll check das boot and Hunt for Red October too.

The only part i can really remember was when they were in the submarine, and they were getting attacked. Or they got stuck, i really can't remember which, but i know for sure that they had some major issue where they thought they were all going to die.

I usually remember good movies, but i can't believe i forgot the name, and i want to check it out again.

Thanks guys.

However switching the nationality of the armed forces that captured a German submarine (the only 'live' capture of WW2) is not an error, or an edit for artistic purposes. It would be similar to a movie where the Apollo 11 moon landing astronauts were Australian.

The only other one that I can think of is "K19 the Widow Maker" but that isn't set in WWII, and it was made in 2002.
